825 How To Trap A Mimic by Nick Lorance
Taylor is a pretty average young man, into things like Japanese animation and comic books. His life takes a turn, however, when a member of a street gang accidentally shoots his mother and him as they are walking to a restaurant. His mother is killed and Taylor is hit in the throat. Surgery saves his voice but it is permanently altered to sound like a female. Much to his surprise, he discovers that his new voice actually helps him as a vocalist with the band he and his friends have formed. After hearing a CD, a TV talent show invites the band to compete for a big cash prize. Because of his new voice, the producers think that Taylor is a girl. Always up for a challenge, Taylor decides that he’ll simply compete as a female vocalist. And that’s just the beginning of this strange tale of a boy who sounds like a girl.
